Dishwasher sales surged 49% year-on-year (YoY) in the first six months of 2026.Sales of higher-capacity models, having 15 place settings, surged 137% during the period, showed data from sales tracker NielsenIQ, shared by manufacturers.Live EventsET BureauDishwashers' sales contribution in citiesThe government lowered GST on dishwashers by 10 percentage points to 18% with effect from September 22, 2025.Manufacturers dropped prices by ₹4,500-Rs 7,500, now starting at around ₹25,000, bringing it almost on par with a fridge or a washing machine.Tax cut advertisements by the government also brought the dishwasher category into mainstream attention, boosting demand, according to industry executives.“While the GST rate cut had a favourable impact last year, we have also gone a step ahead to create the category by demystifying the myths,” said Saif Khan, managing director at BSH Home Appliances India, which sells Bosch and Siemens brand of dishwashers.
