By The FINANCIAL — U.S.

families are heading into the fall and holiday entertainment season with higher prices across parts of the leisure economy, while major theme-park operators continue to use date-based pricing, premium experiences and separately ticketed events to manage demand.

The latest pressure point is Disney.

Disneyland could increase ticket prices in early October, following a pattern seen in recent years, while Walt Disney World has already raised peak prices for some 2027 dates.

The potential Disneyland increase has not been announced by Disney, but a September 17 analysis by Disney-focused publication Mickey Visit projects an increase around Oct.

6 or 7 based on the timing of previous adjustments.

The broader U.S.

data show that entertainment prices have been moving unevenly.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the admissions category — which includes movies, theaters, concerts, theme parks and museums — was up 2.9% in August from a year earlier.

Admission prices for movies, theaters and concerts rose 2.6%, while admission to sporting events increased 2.4%.

The increases are not uniform across the industry.

The BLS data show that admission prices have also declined in some individual months, reflecting the highly seasonal and variable nature of entertainment pricing.

Disney World Has Already Raised Some 2027 Prices Walt Disney World has moved toward a more date-specific pricing structure, with the cost of admission varying according to the selected day.

Disney’s official ticket information states that standard Walt Disney World tickets are date-based and that prices vary according to the date selected.

The resort operates four major theme parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom — as well as two water parks.

The 2027 calendar released in April included higher peak pricing at Magic Kingdom.

According to the Mickey Visit analysis supplied for this report, the highest Magic Kingdom one-day price increased from $209 in 2026 to $219 for 2027 dates.

The pricing structure means two visitors buying nominally identical one-day tickets can pay different amounts depending on when they visit.

Disney has also continued to use promotional offers alongside higher peak prices.

Its current offers include multi-day packages and other discounts, while the company’s Disney Experiences division says the lowest-priced one-day, one-park Disneyland ticket has remained at $104 since 2019.

That $104 price applies to the lowest-priced Disneyland ticket tier, rather than the full range of daily admission prices.

Disney World and Disneyland Disneyland’s Next Increase Could Come in October Disneyland’s historical pricing pattern is the basis for the latest forecast.

According to Mickey Visit’s analysis, Disneyland increased ticket prices on Oct.

8 in both 2024 and 2025.

The publication expects another adjustment in the first half of October 2026, with Oct.

7 identified as possible dates.

There is no official Disney confirmation of either date.

The resort’s lowest Tier 0 one-day ticket has remained at $104 since 2019, according to Disney.

Disney has also said it expanded the number of days on which the lowest ticket tier is available.

The timing of a potential increase would put it ahead of the busiest holiday period.

Disneyland’s 2026 Halloween season runs through Oct.

The resort’s holiday season begins Nov.

13 and continues through Jan.

Disneyland’s Fall and Holiday Calendar Halloween Time: Aug.

31, 2026 Oogie Boogie Bash: Select nights through Oct.

2 Disneyland Holidays: Nov.

6, 2027 Christmas Fantasy Parade: Part of the holiday program Disney says separately ticketed events can affect normal park operations, including earlier park closures for guests who do not hold tickets to the special event.

Florida Alternatives Florida Is Becoming More Competitive Florida remains the center of the U.S.

theme-park economy, but Disney is no longer operating in a two-company market.

Universal’s Epic Universe opened in Orlando in May 2025 after a reported $7 billion investment.

Reuters reported that the 750-acre expansion nearly doubled the size of Universal Orlando Resort and added lands based on franchises including Harry Potter, Super Nintendo and How to Train Your Dragon.

Analysts cited by Reuters projected that Epic Universe could attract about 9.5 million visitors in 2026.

At the same time, Universal reported softer attendance across the broader Orlando market beginning in June 2026, although Comcast executives said Epic Universe itself was continuing to perform strongly.

The latest available major attendance estimates show the scale of the Florida market.

The 2025 North American rankings reported by Mickey Visit from TEA/AECOM data put Magic Kingdom at 17.8 million visits, EPCOT at 12.1 million, Disney’s Hollywood Studios at 10.3 million and Disney’s Animal Kingdom at 8.8 million in 2024.

Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure each recorded about 9.5 million.

Disney’s own economic-impact analysis estimates that its destinations generate more than $40 billion in economic impact in Florida and nearly $67 billion across the United States.

Florida’s Fall Entertainment Calendar Is Packed For visitors considering Orlando and Tampa, the fall calendar offers a long list of seasonal events.

Walt Disney World Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party runs on select nights through Oct.

31, 2026, at Magic Kingdom.

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival runs Aug.

Disney is also offering Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit at EPCOT from Sept.

The pumpkin-hunt game board costs $11.99 plus tax, separate from park admission.

Universal Orlando Epic Universe adds a fourth major theme-park destination to Universal Orlando’s lineup, expanding competition for visitors spending several days in Central Florida.

The park’s arrival also changes the economics of an Orlando vacation: travelers now have another major attraction competing for both ticket spending and time within a trip that may already include Disney, Universal’s older parks, SeaWorld and other attractions.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream runs on select nights from Sept.

Single-night tickets were listed from $48.99 before taxes and fees as of September 2026.

The Halloween event is separately ticketed and does not include daytime admission.

Christmas Town returns on select dates from Nov.

13, 2026, through Jan.

4, 2027, and is included with Busch Gardens admission.

California and New York Options New York-Area Entertainment Is Also Entering a Busy Fall The New York market provides a different picture because its major entertainment economy includes Broadway, professional sports and regional amusement parks rather than Disney-style destination resorts.

Broadway’s 2025-26 season generated $1.91 billion in grosses and attracted 14.58 million attendees across 74 productions, according to the Broadway League.

Attendance was down 0.6% from the previous season while grosses increased 1%.

Audiences occupied 90.8% of available seats.

The current Broadway season has started more slowly than the comparable period last year.

For the week ending Sept.

13, 2026, Broadway reported $25.02 million in grosses and 223,921 attendances across 26 shows.

Season-to-date grosses were $514.3....
