Modern vehicles are more advanced than ever, packed with curved displays, wireless charging pads, connected apps and over-the-air software updates.

But that tech comes at a cost.

The latest United States Vehicle Dependability Study by JD Power shows long-term reliability has declined again, marking the highest level of reported problems since the study was redesigned in 2022.

At the heart of the issue is technology.

Infotainment systems remain the most problematic category across the industry, ranking highest for owner complaints.

Exterior issues sit second, but it is digital integration that continues to dominate frustration levels.

Lexus topped the charts as the most dependable brand in the US, followed by Buick, Mazda, Toyota and Cadillac.

Volkswagen and its luxury spinoff Audi ranked toward the bottom of the list, joined by Land Rover and Stellantis duo Jeep and Chrysler.

Honda and Ford were close to the study’s average, while Mitsubishi and Mercedes were in the bottom half of brands listed.

Tesla is not eligible for JD Power survey results.
