The National Political Bureau of the National Liberal Party (PNL) unanimously approved on Monday the nomination of Mihai Dimian, Professor and Rector of 'Stefan cel Mare' University in Suceava, for the position of Minister of Education and Research.

According to a PNL statement, the proposal was made by party Chairman and Prime Minister of Romania Ilie Bolojan.

During the meeting, Dimian presented his vision for reforming and developing the education sector.

PNL notes that Mihai Dimian is backed as an independent, with the mission of contributing to the development of Romania's education system in line with the governing program, while continuing efforts to improve efficiency in the field.

Dimian is a university professor and PhD supervisor at 'Stefan cel Mare' University, where he has served as rector since 2024.

He holds degrees in physics and mathematics from 'Alexandru Ioan Cuza' University in Iasi.
